The League is saddened to record the passing last night of Ray Bayles. He had been unwell for a couple of months, but, despite a brave fight, finally succumbed.

As well as his associations with both Wroxham and Dereham Town, Ray was a long time member of the Eastern Counties League Management Committee, holding posts that included Youth League Registrations Officer and Child Protection Officer. He was also formerly Chairman of the Youth League.

Ray was one of the good guys and it’s difficult to believe that anybody didn’t like him. He was a great servant to football and will be very much missed. Our thoughts are with his wife, Carol, and his family.
