The draw for the 4th Round of the FA Vase has seen two of our sides handed ties away to teams from the Midland League. Previous finalists Wroxham must travel to just off the M1 in Derbyshire to face mid-table South Normanton Athletic. The Shiners, who have never before reached this stage of the competition, got their nickname from past associations with the ribbed stocking industry. They are unbeaten at home in the league this season.
Kirkley & Pakefield also travel north west as they were drawn away to Sporting Khalsa. The Willenhall based team are second in the Midland League and have won 8 of their 9 home league games this season. They reached the quarter finals of the FA Vase in 2016/17 and last season met Godmanchester Rovers at this stage of the competition. Although Godmanchester won the tie 1-0 they were later removed from the competition after it was found that they had fielded an ineligible player.
Stowmarket Town have been made joint favourites to win the FA Vase after being drawn at home to Glebe from the strong South East Counties League. Glebe from Chislehurst are mid table but have games in hand on teams above them.
The winners of Tuesday evening’s Stanway Rovers v. Woodbridge Town replay will be at home to Plymouth Parkway. The Devon side are second in the Western League, having won 11 of their 13 league matches this season, including the last 6 on the bounce.
The 4th Round ties are scheduled to Saturday 11th January 2020.
