FA Announce League Allocations for Season 2023/24

The FA has announced, subject to appeal, the League Allocations for Season 2023/24. The allocations see the Thurlow Nunn League lose 6 members (3 to promotion, 2 to relegation and 1 lateral transfer) and gain 11 new members ( of whom 9 have never played in our League before). All clubs are very welcome.

The PREMIER DIVISION is as follows:-

Ipswich Wanderers have been promoted to the Isthmian League, while Haverhill Rovers and Whitton United have been relegated to our First Division North.

The three departees have been replaced by Dereham Town, returning to us after being relegated from the Northern Premier League, and Heacham and Downham Town, both promoted from our First Division North.

Nine teams in the new Premier Division are from Norfolk.

FIRST DIVISION NORTH has been increased from 19 to 21 teams.

Heacham and Downham Town have been promoted from First Division North to the Premier Division, with Haverhill Rovers and Whitton United moving in the opposite direction.

Debenham LC have been relegated to Step 7 football, while FC Parson Drove have been given a reprieve and stay in First Division North for next season.

Stanway Pegasus and Wivenhoe Town have been transferred from our First Division South to First Division North, while Huntingdon Town have been granted a lateral transfer to the Spartan South Midlands League.

Promoted to the division from Step 7 football are Anglian Combination Champions Dussindale and Hellesdon Rovers and FC Peterborough from the Peterborough and District League.

First Division North has a very large geographical footprint and there will be a lot of travelling for the teams next season, particularly with the increase in the number of clubs.

FIRST DIVISION SOUTH has also seen an increase of numbers, from 19 to 22!

Frenford and Sporting Bengal United have both been promoted to the Essex Senior League while Coggeshall United have been relegated to Step 7 football. Hackney Wick have been given a reprieve from relegation.

Clapton and Southend Manor have been relegated from the Essex Senior League, while the first ever FA Vase winners Hoddesdon Town have been relegated to the division from the Spartan South Midlands League. Harlow Town were members of the Southern League last season, but resigned mid-season following problems with their pitch.

Promoted from Step 7 football are Essex Alliance League Champions Brimsdown (who were in First Division South until the season before last), Middlesex League Champions Clapton Community, Essex and Suffolk Border League Champions Dunmow Town, and Essex Olympian League Champions Hutton.
