FA Vase On Saturday

All good fortune to our 11 teams playing in the FA Vase on Saturday. There are three all-Thurlow Nunn League ties, all being played in Norfolk, so the League is guaranteed representation in the Third Round Proper on 11th December.

  • Premier Division leaders Gorleston entertain First Division South leaders Buckhurst Hill.
  • In-form First Division North Norwich CBS make their debut at their temporary home at The Nest, playing Premier Division Lakenheath, whose home ground is also called The Nest.
  • There’s an all-Premier Division match at Trafford Park with Wroxham at home to Newmarket Town. When the two sides met at Newmarket earlier this season it ended 3-5.
  • Also in Norfolk Mulbarton Wanderers take on London Lions, a team top of the Combined Counties League First Division and who have knocked out Haverhill Rovers and Thetford Town in previous rounds.
  • In a fifth game in Norfolk Fakenham Town are at home to Stansted, a team enjoying a good season in the Essex Senior League.
  • Cornard United have done well to reach this stage of the competition and on Saturday go to old friends Saffron Walden Town, another team doing well in the Essex Senior League.
  • Ipswich Wanderers face a stiff test at New Salamis from the Spartan South Midlands League. They are currently fourth in their Step 5 League and won at Norwich United in the last round.
  • Whittlesey Athletic face perhaps the toughest task of all our teams as the famous name of Worcester City visit Feldale. It is arguably the biggest match in Whittlesey’s history.
