Stowmarket Town‘s lead at the top of the Premier Division is now 16 points as their bandwagon rolls on with a 3-0 success over Godmanchester Rovers. Christy Finch scored twice for the home side. With Newmarket Town losing 2-0 at Brantham Athletic there are now only 3 points between the four sides currently vying for second place, and potential promotion. Norwich United were held 1-1 at home by Whitton United, now unbeaten in 9 league matches, while Wroxham drew 0-0 at FC Clacton and Stanway Rovers beat Gorleston 4-0.
Gorleston‘s defeat at Stanway sees them fall into the relegation place with previous bottom club Hadleigh United having a much needed 3-1 win at Walsham le Willows. Ely City will also be happy with their single goal success at Thetford Town, their first win in 13 matches.
Mulbarton Wanderers increased their lead at the top of First Division North with a professional 5-0 win at bottom side Wisbech St Mary. Tom Amis scored a hat trick. Downham Town and Lakenheath were without fixtures but there were wins for Norwich CBS, March Town United and Fakenham Town in the chasing pack. Next Saturday it’s 1st vs. 2nd with Mulbarton hosting Downham.
It was White Ensign who won out in the top of First Division South clash against Little Oakley. There was a flurry of early goals and a change of lead before the home side finished as 4-2 winners, their 8th successive victory. Lopes Tavares are third after 2 wins in 3 days and Barkingside moved into the fourth promotion place by beating Wivenhoe Town 3-2 after racing into an early 3-0 lead.
A single goal was enough for Halstead Town to beat Walsham le Willows in the match between the top two in the Reserve League.
