Saturday in the Thurlow Nunn League

The top two both won 7-0 on Saturday. For league leaders Stowmarket Town it was their second 7 goal haul in a row with Thetford Town the latest team to be put to the sword. Christy Finch hit a hat trick at Mundford Road, where Stow were 6-0 up at half time. Jack Chandler scored twice for Newmarket Town as they vanquished visiting Swaffham Town in their own 7-0 success. Wroxham and Norwich United were both without a game owing to the Norfolk Senior Cup.

Goals were in short supply at the top of First Division North with the top 7 only scoring 3 between them. There were goalless draws between Downham Town and Ipswich Wanderers and between Lakenheath and March Town United while leaders Mulbarton Wanderers extended their unbeaten run to 10 by beating Sheringham 1-0 with a second half goal from Tom Amis. Norwich CBS ran amok in comparison to their promotion rivals, beating King’s Lynn Town Reserves 2-0.

First Division South leaders White Ensign met determined resistance at Wivenhoe Town, having to take the lead 4 times for their 4-3 victory. Connor Barnby netted a hat trick to help extend Ensign’s winning run to 7 games. Second placed Little Oakley had 5 different scorers in their 5-1 win at lowly Brightlingsea Regent Reserves. Next Saturday White Ensign entertain Little Oakley.
