Saturday in the Thurlow Nunn League

Newmarket Town and Stanway Rovers both took advantage of Wroxham playing in the FA Vase by moving up a place in the Premier Division table. The Jockeys beat visitors FC Clacton 3-1, while Stanway were 4-2 winners at Gorleston having been 4-0 up at one stage. Next Saturday Stanway Rovers entertain Wroxham in a key encounter.

Norwich United maintained their challenge with a 2-0 win over visiting Brantham Athletic, their 5th successive victory. Game of the day was probably at Walsham le Willows where the home side were 3 up inside 10 minutes but ended up losing 4-3 to visitors Haverhill Rovers.

A first half strike from Sam Whiting was enough to give First Division North leaders Mulbarton Wanderers three points against Fakenham Town while second placed Downham Town overcame Cornard United 3-0. Sheringham are now up to 5th after coming from 2-0 down after 5 minutes to beat Leiston Reserves 4-2. It was the Shannocks sixth successive win.

Little Oakley and White Ensign both had impressive away wins in First Division South, 3-0 at Wormley Rovers and 4-0 at Barkingside respectively, while Coggeshall United are now up to fourth in the table after beating Benfleet 2-0. White Ensign will go top with 3 points at Newbury Forest on Tuesday evening.
