Can Anybody Stop Stowmarket?

Stowmarket Town continued their relentless charge towards the Premier Division title with a 3-0 win over Haverhill Rovers on Saturday. Stow are now 15 points clear at the top. Wroxham clung on to second spot with a last minute equaliser in their 1-1 home draw with lowly Brantham Athletic.

Long Melford had an impressive 2-1 win at Woodbridge Town and this seventh successive victory has seem them climb to the dizzy heights of third in the table. Stanway Rovers are down to fourth after their goalless match at Newmarket Town, the first points the Jockeys have dropped at home all season.

There was a goal fest at bottom side Gorleston where long distance visitors Godmanchester Rovers scored a last minute penalty to leave with a 5-4 win.

There are new leaders in First Division North after Mulbarton Wanderers scored two first half goals to win 2-0 at AFC Sudbury Reserves. Downham Town are down to second after crashing 8-2 at Leiston Reserves, despite being level at half time. James Gaffer scored a hat trick for the Suffolk side.

Cornard United came from 2 goals down to draw 2-2 at third placed Lakenheath, while fourth placed Norwich CBS saw off Diss Town 4-1.

Neither of the top two in First Division South were in league action on Saturday while Wivenhoe Town and Benfleet swapped third and fourth places after the Dragons gained their sixth home win a row by beating the team that had been immediately above them 2-1.
