Unusually for of late each of the top six teams in the Premier Division won their matches on Saturday. Leaders Histon were indebted to a second half goal from Salim Relizani for their 1-0 victory over Thetford Town, while second placed Woodbridge Town came from behind to beat Gorleston 3-1.
Third placed Godmanchester Rovers came away from their long trip to Great Yarmouth Town with a 3-0 success and there were five different scorers in Stowmarket Town’s 5-0 win over Kirkley & Pakefield. Walsham le Willows went behind to bottom side Framlingham Town but eventually won 3-1 and sixth placed Wroxham beat Whitton United 3-0.
Harleston Town continued their pursuit of a league and cup double with a 5-0 win over First Division North bottom side Wisbech St Mary while Swaffham Town, with games in hand, slipped back into third place after coming from behind to win 4-1 at Needham Market Reserves.
In First Division South White Ensign, Harwich & Parkeston and Coggeshall United all suffered postponements because of waterlogged pitches, enabling Hashtag United and Halstead Town to pull away at the head of the table. Hashtag won 4-2 on a windy afternoon at May & Baker while Halstead scored a stoppage time winner at Lopes Tavares for a 2-1 victory.
Despite not playing Stowmarket Town clinched the Reserve League title for the first time after nearest rivals Halstead Town lost 1-0 to an 85th minute goal at Wivenhoe Town. Congratulations to the Stow second string.
